Last month (27-29 Sep 2019) we held our very successful Nottingham Prints exhibition at the Nottingham Contemporary. It was an exhausting, but excellent weekend.
Almost 500 people (not counting the ones who came in, looked confused and wandered off again) saw and engaged with our exhibition of local alternative and radical news media. Many thanks to everyone who joined us to celebrate these wonderful materials, to all those who promoted the event, everyone who helped putting it up and taking it down again, to all those who donated more materials (some very good stuff will be added soon!) and of course many thanks to the Notts Zine Library and everyone at the Nottingham Contemporary for hosting the event and supporting us all weekend.
Please also see the handout for the exhibition (also containing the contextual information from the display boards), the timelines of local publications and the stories shared by people involved with the production of some of these materials (namely Citywise, Nottingham CND, NAFA and local LBTQ+ materials).
Since the exhibition, we also came across this 1978 documentary regarding community papers in the MACE film archives, featuring Nottingham Voice (5:44-8:30) and a few others. Read (almost) all of Nottingham Voice in our Digital Library.
